DIFF members continue to strongly support the club's involvement in such issues as ORVs at Cape Lookout National Seashore, the new camp at Great Island and protecting the natural resources of Davis Island, according to results of a club questionnaire. Fifty-nine members have answered the questionnaire from the DIFF board, which is trying to gauge members' opinions on a range of issue. The questionnaire appears on Page 4, and the board urges members to fill it out. Those who did so already are asked not to fill out another one. The questionnaire consists of five questions on topics important to the club. Each question contains a series of answers, and members are asked to rank each answer 1-5 as to their importance with 1 being

least important and 5 most important. DIFF members continued to rank ORV use at Cape Lookout as the most important issue to the club. It received 243 points out of a possible 295. Protecting the park's natural resources (201points), the new camp at Great Island (183), marine fisheries (179) and a recreational saltwater fishing license (172) received among the highest point totals on the questionnaire. Building a comfort station at the north end received 209 points and was the most important improvement that members thought the club should help pay for. The DIFF board is looking into ways it can help pay for the station. Other improvements that received high marks were general cabin maintenance (180

points), renovation and expansion of the existing bathhouse at the Great Island Camp (172), new cabins at the camp (143) and more fish-cleaning tables (128). Judging from the survey, members continue to think that our annual fishing tournament requires few changes. There was no clear support for increasing the number of entrants, raising the purse or increasing the number of prize categories. Many who filled out the questionnaire thought we should offer more door prizes (151 points) and daily weigh-ins (160). Moving the tournament to October received 132 points. Sponsoring a beach clean-up day (219 points) continues to be the most popular new project members think the club should undertake.
