President’s Letter

Congratulations to our Tournament committee for another successful tournament this year!  Mark Weir, Helen Wynnberry and Jim Gaither did an outstanding job!  Many hours are spent into the planning and coordination of this event and I hope that you enjoyed participating.

Unfortunately, we did not have our “annual” jam session because our head musician Alvin “Riley” Baugus was on tour in Europe and could not attend.  Hopefully, we can continue next year so listen up all you musicians…..we need you.

I was personally pleased to see how well the island as progressed since Hurricane Isabel.  The Park Service has done a great job balancing the needs and wants of the fishermen and those of the island.  We hope to resume work trips in the near future and encourage each of you to contribute in some form or another.

The holiday season is upon us and another year is soon to be passing.  As we celebrate this season, please keep in mind the less fortunate and sick, particularly any that are part of our group.  Your prayers and thoughts can do wonders.

Remember, take a kid fishing!  It’s time well spent.

I sincerely wish you all a very merry Christmas and many happy years ahead for you and your families!                Roger Wise

     President’s Post Script:

Flexibility is needed at times to
 conduct a tournament of this
magnitude, which includes the ability
to award prizes or give special
attention to those who achieve a milestone in their fishing career.

This year’s extra-special recognition goes to DIFF member Charlie Sutphin who, at the last minute, weighed in with this “killer” whiting, 0.10 lbs!
