ment, Sept. 24, the $50 entry fee increases to $60 after Aug. 31. The number of entrants is limited to 135, and about 63 club members have already entered. The cap is generally reached before the start of the tournament.
No major rule changes are expected this year. Entrants will compete for $6,100 in prize money is six categories

The club will be using its own scales to weigh the fish this year. Don Eury, one of the club's founding members, had borrowed an  electronic scale for past tournaments, but Don said he won't be able to this year. The DIFF Club Board, at its last meeting, approved the purchase of scales for the tournament.

DIFF members, at their Annual Meeting in Pineville in March, unanimously re-elected the following members to the Board of Directors: B.K. Barringer, Steve Barringer, Dennis Blanton, Jack Burcham, Roy Byrd, Jack Davis, Jim Grier, Chester Hiatt, Frank Long, Alvin Tans, Frank Tursi, and Charles Wright.
The board then elected the following officers: Tans, president; Barringer, vice president; Grier, treasurer; and Tursi, secretary.
The board wants to recruit new members for next year. Any DIFF Club member who would like to serve on the board should contact Chester Hiatt, 336-765-3406.

Club member Jerry Walter Taylor, 57, died April 22 at University Hospital in Charlotte.
A native of Mecklenburg County, Jerry graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and was a biology teacher at North Mecklenburg High School for 22 years. At the time of his death he was working in UNCC's herbarium.

urer Jim Grier reports. Membership dues pay the club's yearly expenses, and the tournament entry fees go toward the tournament prizes. DIFF has a bank balance of about $14,000, or about $2,700 more than from last year. Raffles, Jim noted, generated almost all of that extra money.
That's why it's important to sell or buy the raffle tickets included with the newsletter. One set is for a generator and the other for a pressure washer. DIFF's good friend H&S Roofing of Charlotte donated $600 for the Honda 1,000 watt generator, and board member Charles Wright donated the pressure washer.
